Your signature will appear here

PNG may look black in your phone's gallery. That's the transparent background — the signature is there and will show on any document.

Need it really big? SVG stays perfectly sharp at any size, for large prints and design apps like Canva or Illustrator. For documents, use PNG.

How to create an online signature

Draw, type, or upload

Sign with your finger or mouse, type your name and pick a handwriting style, or take a photo of your signature on paper.

Pick your ink color

Choose black, blue, dark blue, or any custom color. You can change it after signing.

Download your PNG

Get a tightly cropped PNG with a transparent background, or a JPG on white.

Every download is cropped tightly around the ink with a little padding, so it drops straight onto a signature line without extra white space. The PNG keeps a transparent background and works on any document color; the JPG has a plain white background for places that don't accept transparency.

A signature maker that stays on your device

An online signature is simply an image of your signature that you can place on documents, letters, and forms on your computer or phone. Instead of printing a page, signing it with a pen, and scanning it back in, you make the signature once and reuse the file whenever you need it.

This tool gives you three ways to get there — draw, type, or upload — and one clean result: a sharp, transparent PNG that is cropped to the ink and ready to use. It works on Android phones, iPhones, tablets, and desktop computers, in any modern browser.

What makes it different from most signature tools is what it does not do. There is no sign-up wall, no email request, no watermark, and no "upgrade to download" button. And because every step runs inside your browser, your signature is never sent to a server. It is free in the plain sense of the word: open it, sign, and download.

Three ways to make your signature

Draw your signature

The Draw tab is a signature pad that works with a mouse, a trackpad, a stylus, or your finger. Line width follows your speed, just like a real pen: quick strokes come out thin and slow ones come out fuller. That is what makes a drawn signature look handwritten instead of traced. Use Undo to remove the last stroke, move the Pen slider to make the whole signature thinner or bolder, and download when you are happy with it.

Type your signature

Not comfortable signing with a mouse? Type your name and see it in 21 handwriting fonts at once, from elegant cursive to relaxed everyday handwriting. Tap the style that fits you and download it. It is the quickest option, and it gives a neat, consistent result every time.

Upload a photo of your signature

If you want the exact signature you already use, sign on plain white paper and take a photo. The Upload tab removes the paper, shadows, and lighting differences, leaving only the ink. A cleanup strength slider lets you remove leftover specks or keep thin strokes, so your real signature becomes a clean digital image in seconds.

Why use this signature maker?

Completely free

No trial, no watermark, no premium plan, and no limit on how many signatures you create or download.

No sign-up

There is no account, no email address, and nothing to install. Open the page and start signing.

Private by design

Your signature is made in your browser, never uploaded, and not stored after you close the page. Only your light or dark theme choice is saved, in your browser.

Ready to use

Downloads are cropped to the ink, high resolution, and saved with a transparent background.

Quality matters too. Drawn and typed signatures are re-drawn at four times the on-screen size before download, so the image stays crisp in documents and in print. On the Draw tab you can also save an SVG, which scales to any size without losing sharpness. Whichever way you make your signature, you can change the ink color at any time — black, blue, dark blue, or a custom shade — and the whole signature updates instantly.

Where to use your signature

The downloaded file works anywhere you can insert an image. Common uses include:

  • Signing PDFs and forms in a PDF editor or word processor
  • Adding a signature to letters, invoices, quotes, and receipts
  • Signing permission slips, rental forms, and job applications
  • Placing your signature on certificates, artwork, or photos
  • Keeping a ready-made signature image for documents you sign often

To add it to a PDF, open the file in a PDF editor, choose the option to add an image or signature, and select your PNG. In Word or Google Docs, use Insert → Image and resize the signature to fit the line. Because the background is transparent, only the ink shows.

Keep in mind that this tool makes a picture of your signature. It is not an electronic signature service and does not make a document legally binding on its own; whether a signature image is accepted depends on the document and where you live. Read ourdisclaimer for details, and only use your own signature or one you have permission to use.

Tips for a clean, realistic signature

Drawing: sign in one confident motion, the way you would on paper — slow, careful strokes look shaky. On a phone, turn it sideways for more room. A stylus gives the most control, but a finger works well too.

Photos: sign with a dark pen on plain white paper, and take the photo in even daylight without your shadow over the page. Fill most of the frame with the signature. If paper texture shows up as specks, raise the cleanup strength; if thin strokes disappear, lower it.

Color: blue ink makes it easier to tell a signed copy from a photocopy, while black is the safest choice for official forms.

Privacy: everything runs in your browser. Nothing you draw, type, or upload is sent to a server, and your signature isn't kept after you leave the page — the only copy is the file you download.

Frequently asked questions

How do I create an online signature?

Open the tool at the top of this page and choose one of three ways: draw your signature with a finger, mouse, or stylus; type your name and pick a handwriting style; or upload a photo of your signature on paper. Pick an ink color, then click Download PNG. It works the same on a phone, tablet, or computer.

How can I make a signature online for free?

Use the tool on this page. There is no sign-up, no trial, and no watermark: draw, type, or upload your signature, then download it as a transparent PNG or a JPG on a white background. There is no limit on how many signatures you make.

How do I turn a photo of my signature into a clean digital image?

Sign on plain white paper with a dark pen and take a clear photo in even light. Open the Upload tab and take or choose the photo — the tool removes the paper background and shadows and keeps only your ink. Use the cleanup strength slider if specks remain or thin strokes fade, and Rotate if the photo is sideways. Then download your signature as a transparent PNG.

How do I draw my signature, including on a phone?

Open the Draw tab and sign above the line with your finger, mouse, trackpad, or stylus. It works with your finger on Android and iPhone, and the page will not scroll while you draw. Strokes get thinner when you move faster, like a real pen, so your signature looks handwritten. Use Undo to remove the last stroke or Clear to start over, then click Download PNG.

How do I get a typed signature?

Open the Type tab and type your name. The tool shows it in 21 handwriting and cursive fonts at once. Tap the style you like, choose an ink color, and download it as a PNG. Typing is the quickest way to get a neat, consistent signature.

How do I create a free digital signature online?

Draw, type, or upload your signature in the tool above and download it — it is free, with no account needed. Note that this creates a signature image, which you can insert into PDFs, Word or Google Docs, and emails. It is not a certificate-based digital signature or a legally binding e-signature service; for that, use a dedicated e-signature provider.

Is this signature maker really free?

Yes. There is no sign-up, no trial, no watermark, and no limit on how many signatures you create or download. The site is supported by a few ads placed below the tool.

Is my signature uploaded or stored anywhere?

No. Your drawing, typed name, and uploaded photo are processed entirely in your browser and are never sent to a server. Your signature isn’t saved after you leave or reload the page — the only copy is the file you download. (The site does remember your light or dark theme choice, in your browser.)

How do I get a signature with a transparent background?

Click Download PNG. The PNG has a transparent background, so only the ink shows when you place it on a document, letter, or image. The checkered pattern in the preview shows which areas are transparent. Choose Download JPG if you need a white background instead.

Is a signature made here legally binding?

This tool creates an image of a signature. It is not an electronic signature service and does not make a document legally binding. Whether a signature image is accepted depends on the document and the law where you are. See our Disclaimer for details.

What size and quality is the downloaded signature?

Every download is high resolution, with no setting to choose. Drawn and typed signatures are re-drawn at four times the on-screen size, so they stay sharp in documents and in print. Signatures from photos are saved at up to 2000 pixels, depending on the photo. The file is still small, usually under 100 KB. On the Draw tab you can also download an SVG, which stays sharp at any size, even on a large print or in a design app.

Can I change the ink color?

Yes. Choose black, blue, dark blue, or any custom color. Changing the color updates your whole signature, including strokes you have already drawn and cleaned-up photos.

Why does a style say it can’t show some letters in my name?

Each handwriting font only includes certain alphabets. If your name uses letters a style does not have, we show a message instead of mixing in a different font. Try another style, or draw your signature instead.

Do I need to install an app or create an account?

No. The signature generator runs in any modern browser on phone, tablet, or computer. Open the page and start — there is nothing to install and no account to create.
